What Drives Us

Mission, Vision & Purpose

Our Mission

To deliver exceptional, person-centred disability support that enables participants to achieve their goals, build independence, and participate fully in the Newcastle community - on their own terms.

Our Vision

A Hunter Region where every person with a disability has access to consistent, high-quality support that genuinely fits their life - and where no one has to fight alone to get what they need.

Our Purpose

To bridge the gap between NDIS funding and real, practical daily support. We turn plans into action, connect participants with the right people, and stay involved for the long term - not just at the start.

Our Core Values

Empowerment

Every decision belongs to the participant. We provide information, options, and support - never direction.

Compassion

We listen deeply, speak kindly, and treat every person with the dignity they deserve - always.

Transparency

No jargon, no hidden costs, no false promises. We say what we mean and do what we say.

Community

We are rooted in the Hunter Region. Local knowledge, local relationships, and genuine community investment.

Excellence

We hold ourselves to the highest standards - in our practice, our ethics, and the outcomes we help achieve.

Our Journey

How Safe Hands Began

Safe Hands was started in Newcastle by someone who saw firsthand how hard it was for families across the Hunter Region to access the right disability supports - NDIS plans full of potential, but no clear pathway to use them well.

We began with a simple belief: disability support should feel human, not transactional. Every decision we make comes back to that. We are building a team that genuinely cares and serves our community to the highest standard.

How We Work With You

NDIS support planning meeting between coordinator and participant in Newcastle
1

Listen First - No Assumptions

We start by understanding your situation, goals, and barriers - not by assuming what you need. Your voice leads every conversation from the very beginning.

2

Plan and Match Carefully

We map the supports that align with your NDIS plan, goals, and personal preferences. Worker matching is deliberate - we consider skills, communication styles, and personality fit.

3

Connect and Coordinate

We manage provider communication, service agreements, and scheduling so the pieces fit together and nothing falls through the cracks between services.

4

Stay Involved and Adapt

We don't set up supports and disappear. We check in regularly, respond when things change, and ensure your supports evolve as your goals and circumstances shift.

5

Review and Advocate

At plan review time, we help you document outcomes, present your case to the NDIA, and advocate for the funding you genuinely need for the next plan period.

Common questions

Safe Hands Disability is locally owned and operated by Rujal Shrestha, based in Newcastle NSW. The business was founded to provide responsive, person-centred NDIS support to people in the Hunter Region.
Safe Hands is currently a non-registered NDIS provider, working with self-managed and plan-managed participants. We are working toward NDIS registration to also accept agency-managed participants.
Safe Hands launched in 2026 and currently supports participants across Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, and Maitland. As a newer provider, we offer flexibility and direct access to the owner.
Safe Hands is a small local provider. You speak to the owner directly, not a call centre. No waitlists, no agency layers, and support workers who actually live in your suburb.
We follow the NDIS Practice Standards, maintain a complete suite of NDIS-compliant policies, conduct regular worker screening renewals, and welcome participant feedback through our website and direct channels.
